USP Number and USP Card
At USP, each student receives a personal identification number, known as USP Number. This number is essential for all official procedures, including course registration, library access, and use of academic portals. Once you have your USP Number, you will also receive your USP Card, which serves as your official student ID. The card is required for accessing various university services such as restaurants (RU), libraries, sports facilities, and some campus buildings. A digital version of the USP Card is available through the e-Card USP app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.
Don’t worry, your USP Number and USP Card will be provided to you by the International Office when the time comes.
Senha Única (Unique Password)
The “Senha Única” is your digital password for all USP systems, such as Moodle and many others. It is created and managed through the university’s identity platform: id.usp.br. We recommend setting it up as soon as possible and storing it securely.
How to create your Senha Única:
- Go to id.usp.br
- Click on “Primeiro Acesso” (First Access)
- Enter your USP Number and the email you provided during your application
- You will receive an email with a link to create your password
- Follow these rules for the password:
- Minimum of 8 characters
- Must include letters, numbers, and special characters
- Do not use accents or “ç”
- Avoid using 3 or more consecutive digits from your USP Number
Wi-Fi Access (Eduroam Network)
USP is part of the Eduroam international academic Wi-Fi network. If your home university also uses Eduroam, you may connect using your home credentials. If not, you can connect with your USP credentials.
How to connect:
- Network Name (SSID):
- Select eduroam from the list of available Wi-Fi networks on your device.
- Authentication type: WPA2-Enterprise
- Encryption: AES
- User Authentication Settings:
- Authentication Protocol: EAP (select PEAP or TTLS) – on Android systems, TTLS works better
- Authentication Method: MS-CHAPv2
- Login Credentials
- Username: Your USP number followed by @usp.br
Example: 12345678@usp.br - Password: Your Senha Única (USP digital password)

@usp.br Email Account
All USP students receive an institutional email address (example: yourname@usp.br), hosted on Gmail, giving you access to Google tools like Drive, Docs, Calendar, and more. This email is the main communication channel for messages from professors, departments, and university services.
How to activate your USP email
- Go to id.usp.br
- Log in using your USP Number and Senha Única
- On the left menu, select “Solicitar E-mail” (Request Email)
- Your email will be created with the domain @usp.br
- You can access your email via mail.google.com or configure it on your preferred email app.
Bilhete Único SP Trans
The Bilhete Único is São Paulo’s official public transportation card. With it, you can use: The Metro (subway), CPTM (commuter trains) and municipal buses. This card allows you to transfer between different modes of transportation (e.g., metro + bus) at a reduced cost, within a set period of time (usually 3 hours). As a student, you are eligible to apply for the Bilhete Único de Estudante, which provides 50% discount on all public transportation fares
How to apply?
- To start the application for Bilhete Único Estudante, you need to send the following information to be updated on USP system, for the international office (ccintfea@usp.br)
- Your RNM number, date of issue, and expiry date
- Your complete address in São Paulo
- Your CPF number
- Your phone number
- Fill the following form to request the submission of your data to SPTrans and/or EMTU: Solicitação para envio de dados à SPTrans e/ou EMTU. After completing this form, USP will send your data to SPTrans (the public transportation company in the city of São Paulo). Please allow 1 to 3 business days for this step to be completed.
- Once SPTrans receives your information, you will need to access the following page:
- https://sptrans.documentodoestudante.com.br/elegibilidade
- and follow the instructions to request your Student Pass. Please note that a processing fee will be charged.
- The card should be ready within approximately 7 business days after completing the application.

BUSP (USP’s Internal Bus System)
The BUSP is the free internal bus system of the University of São Paulo. It connects different parts of the university campuses. These buses are free of charge for the USP community (students, staff…). They run at regular intervals throughout the day and are especially helpful on the large Butantã campus, which is like a small city.
You will have a specific card for that.
